SPRUCEDALE CARE CENTER
STRATHROY
The Sprucedale Care Centre expansion in Strathroy, Ontario, is designed to bring 32 additional beds to an existing 96-bed long-term care facility, helping create more space to support residents and the people who care for them. Working alongside Sedun + Kanerva Architects and the broader project team, co-elevate contributed structural and civil engineering expertise to help navigate the challenges of expanding an established care facility. The project required thoughtful coordination between the proposed addition, existing building conditions, and the surrounding site while balancing practical construction considerations and long-term functionality.
From structural system selection and foundation design to site grading, drainage, servicing, and municipal approvals, the project brought together several engineering considerations. Particular attention was given to challenging soil conditions, the connection between new and existing structures, and opportunities to improve construction efficiency through alternative structural systems. By exploring practical design solutions and working collaboratively across disciplines, co-elevate helped advance a project focused on expanding long-term care capacity in the Strathroy community.
