ST. THOMAS ANIMAL SERVICES
ST. THOMAS, ON
The St. Thomas Animal Services facility is a 5830 sq. ft. single-storey building designed to serve both the community and its animals. More than an animal services centre, the facility provides a welcoming environment where residents can connect with pets through thoughtfully planned spaces, including cat and dog housing, a cat café, and an outdoor play area for dogs.
Our team provided structural engineering design for the building, developing an efficient and durable structural system tailored to the facility's needs. The high-pitched roof is supported by economical wood trusses bearing on masonry walls, while conventional spread footings provide a practical foundation solution. Masonry construction was selected for its long-term durability in a high-use environment, and structural steel was incorporated for the entrance canopy overhangs and the enclosed sally port used by animal control services.
